About
So much to write, so little gumption to actually, you know, write it. Suffice it to say that I, Kate House, am the mother of a very happy twothree-year-old girl named Aura, who functions simultaneously as the light of my life (shine, shine) and the source of my apparently endless exhaustion. Anyway, I should have started this blog when she was born (making the name “And Then I Was a Mom” much more timely), but eh…let’s just say I got married four years ago and still haven’t ordered the actual wedding album. I figure I’ll have plenty of empty, wrinkled days in retirement to fill with things like that.
What else? I live in a supremely quiet suburb right outside Boston, with a view of the city from my window that taunts me on a nightly basis. (The move from urban to suburban has not been kind). When we started looking for houses here, everyone kept telling us how “nice” the town is. And it’s true. Most people are pleasant, the houses are pretty much uniformly neat, the library is a bastion of reading and knitting groups..it’s nice. Boring as hell, but nice.
When I’m not putting off writing this blog, I’m taking care of Aura and frantically working part-time on various writing projects, none of which fall into the Dream Job! The One I Always Wanted! category. But the money pays for the lunches out that Aura and I love to indulge in, along with the necessary truckloads of gel window stickers, Polly Pockets, and endless books. Heck, maybe this blog will make me rich. I leave that to you, dear readers. In the meantime, happy reading.
P.S. I love mail. Don’t you love mail? It’s the best. Me: kehouse@hotmail.com
